High temperature, heat resistant and radiant heat reflective sleeve can be used to protect industrial wires, cables, hoses (hydraulics), piping and tubing from radiant heat sources such as glowing steel slab, liquid metal pour stream, infrared heaters and other similar sources. This type of sleeve is also popular for automotive wiring protection under-hood.
Sleeves with different base materials are available: thin fiberglass or high bulk fiberglass. Sewn sleeve is available fabricated from 21oz coated fiberglass fabric.
An aluminum foil or aluminum-mylar-aluminum coating over fiberglass is available. These materials can reflect up to 95% of the radiant energy that hits its surface, keeping the underlying cables and hoses cool.
